What is the walk about?
The SANDS Walk for Down Syndrome (formerly Tucson Buddy Walk) is our largest event of the year! Our first walk was held in 2001 at Reid Park with a handful of families. Since then, our event now hosts 800-1,000 people! In addition to being our largest fundraiser of the year, it is a resource fair for our families to help connect them to critical services that can help their family such as: Social Security, DES, DDD, ALTCS, Special Olympics, Doctor's, Respite providers, and so much more.

The event is typically held in the fall, typically on the second or third weekend of November. Registration opens in August.
How do you use the funds raised?
How do you use the funds raised?
The walk provides approximately 80% of our annual operating revenue for our organization. SANDS does not receive government funding, and minimal funds from corporate grants. We rely on the generosity of our community partners and families!
All of our programs are available for little to no cost to our families.
