A Sponsorship and Reimbursement Program for individuals with Down syndrome and their families. The purpose of the Southern Arizona Network for Down Syndrome (SANDS) G.O.L.D. program is to provide a medium by which SANDS can give back some of the funds it raises directly to individuals with Down syndrome and their families.
We strongly believe that giving back directly to families and individuals is an important part of our mission to enrich the lives of those with Down syndrome, and fulfill the needs of the community we serve. This program aims to bridge the gap between established services within our community, and our families' actual needs.
Funds may be requested for educational, therapeutic, and medical purposes.
In order to be eligible, the applicant must be an individual with Down syndrome or a parent/legal guardian of an individual with Down syndrome, must live within Southern Arizona - Pima, Cochise, Santa Cruz, Graham, and Yuma counties. Residents of Pinal county who live south of Casa Grande, and residents of Greenlee county who live south of Morenci, are also welcome to apply.
WE ACCEPT APPLICATIONS FROM FEBRUARY 1 TO OCTOBER 1. ANY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED OCTOBER 2-JANUARY 31 WILL NEED TO REAPPLY IN FEBRUARY.
In addition to helping families financially, a desirable benefit of the program is to inspire families to explore new and/or alternative options that may not be otherwise considered.
