Our Mission

Our purpose is to:

  • Organize and host diverse community events to increase and promote community awareness and inclusion as well as to create new funding resources for the Southern Arizona Down syndrome community.
  • Funds raised are granted to the Southern Arizona Down syndrome community via the Give it back! Program. Individuals with Down syndrome and their families are granted funds for the purpose of enriching their lives through participation in programs, therapies, conferences and more… The Community Grants Program grants funds to local support groups that enrich the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their family.
  • Develop and/or bring new programs and services to benefit the Southern Arizona Down syndrome community.

Who We Are

The SANDS Board of Directors is composed of a group of very dedicated individuals who donate their time, knowledge and passion to SANDS.

We are looking for qualified and caring individuals to serve on our Board.  If you are interested, talk to one of our existing members about their experience, read the BOD manual then fill out a BOD application and forward it to [email protected] or mail it to PO Box 17011 Tucson, AZ  85731.  We are also looking for chairperson/s for our annual Buddy Walk, if interested contact us at [email protected].  

SANDS  is also looking for people who want to be on committees, we have many to choose from….

SANDS is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit umbrella organization dedicated to enriching the lives of individuals with Down syndrome in Southern Arizona.  SANDS is entirely run by volunteers and is funded through donations and grants.
